Question has anyone else had dry eyes with psoriasis? Never had eye problems till I got psoriasis.

Yes i have , it was the start of my psoriatic arthritis. started with nails coming away from beds then it went to eyes then it went to joints, i had severe dry eyes years ago, sorry about this Ace

I have Ace, but I never put the two together, it may very well be connected. Dry skin, dry eyes, maybe?
28 Jul 05:26
Oh yes Ace. Very dry and sometimes very itchy eyes. Anti histamines seem to remedy the itching and daily eyedrops for the dryness.

Get watery eyes very irritating at times, just thought it was the Vaseline I put on eyelids when scales appear, not sure what dry eyes mean?

It can be a problem with the immune system Sue, can affect tissues in the body like tear duks etc,can cause dryness in the mouth with problems with the saliva glands also, psoriasis can cause a lot of other problems not just the skin problems, why diet/lifestyle changes is important and drinking plenty of filtered or bottled water a day can reduce these harsh symptoms thanks :)

Great question, Ace! Lots of people do get this. I am not one of them... but I know that others do. It's a common link...

I didn't know this. Interesting.
28 Jul 10:51
Yep, diet/lifestyle is essential. I think my psoriatic arthritis started because of me drinking a lot? that caused all other lots of inflammation elsewhere, dry eyes and severe, can rip the top skin on eyes off,dry mouth, nasty ,Once you get these things, you are stuck with it, good news you can make it better but, one has to be sensible to keep on top of it.

Oh yes I get p on eyelids ,I thought Ace was referring to the eyeballs, derr me,have crunchy eyes right now but isn't as bad as last week
28 Jul 21:36
Maybe it was eyeballs,I don't know after re reading, too early haven't had coffee ,that's my excuse
28 Jul 22:02
yep the eye balls not around the outside of them with flakes, dry eye syndrome
28 Jul 22:54
Know its eyeballs ,don't rub it in!

I never put it together either. I get dry mouth and I always thought it was because of all the Meds I'm on for blood pressure, cholesterol, bladder etc.

This is very interesting. I don't have dry eyes (yet) nor mouth so I hope my immune system is great!?? Dry eyes, mouth...what about the nose??
30 Jul 12:22
I think the nose is usually fine Michelle, mine was when i had it bad, i dont get this problem now only slightly .I was still sniffing well at that time :)
30 Jul 12:53
Thank you. Sounds like I'm all good so far. :)

I have Sjogrens as well... so very dry eyes, mouth and nose are an additional everyday nuisance to me. As it’s AI disease like PsA, I don’t suppose I am unique in this?

I have recently been told by my opthamologist that my dry red eyes are actually rosacea. Didn’t realize this was possible. For years dr was treating it based on inflammation of iris/retina/uvea. Not sure of connection but eyes haven’t been great recently and my psoriasis has gone crazy too.
